You stand gazing out at the Sea of Tears, shimmering in the midday sun. The waves sing their eternal song as they crash upon the sandy shores. A chill seabreeze blows through your hair, the smell of the salty brine carries on the wind. Your feet are firmly planted on the sands that make up the border of the Great Isle of Solitude. Behind you, past the warm sands of the beach, lies a narrow dirt walking path through The Oldwood to the bustling town of Ravenport. The Oldwood has long been the subject of many frightening stories, no doubt due to the gloom the dense canopy of trees casts upon the forest floor below. Since The Oldwood is the only path to this beach, you always find yourself alone here. As such, this is a place you can come for quiet reflection; a place you can sit quietly and listen to the waves crashing upon the shore. In the distance, the ruins of an old castle that sat by the sea are visible. Its visage on the horizon is familiar to your eyes, but you’ve never actually walked there or seen it up close. Even at the vast distance from your beach spot, it’s evident the old castle has been abandoned and lying in ruin for many decades.
